What training techniques can have the same strengthening effect on your legs as weightlifting?

My coach wants my to do weightlifting to build my muscles for sprinting, but it's waaay to expensive. He doesn't want me to do distance running. What do I do?|||That's easy


Calf Raises= Repeatedly standing on your tippy-toes 20reps,3 sets


Fire Hydrants=Get on all fours and raise one leg up like a dog taking a piss,do both left and right,lift return lift return etc. 20reps,3sets
