Is it beneficial or useless to do a light weightlifting workout?

There are sometimes when I don't feel like doing a very heavy workout, but try to do a light, quick weightlifting session before/after my cardio sessions.

Is there any benefit to these lighter workouts or should I skip them altogether?

(My goal is to be healthy and toned overall, and not to build muscle) - My body builds muscle more easily than it loses fat.|||ANYTHING that you do that uses your body is beneficial for it. Your body loves being used! The more you put in, the more results you will have, but a light workout will give you some results, and therefore is good for your body even if it is not giving you the astronomical results you would prefer.

The best thing about these light workouts is that it is keeping you in the habit of working out at all. Once you start skipping workouts, you will fall out of the habit and then it is all over. Without those light workouts you may end up not exercising at all. In that way, they are very beneficial!|||It's good to do a variety of working out. Putting a heavy %26amp; a light workout helps keep your body growing. Routines should never last more than six weeks.
