What are the consequences of someone weightlifting at?

What are the physical consequences on the body of someone weightlifting at the age of 5 years old? I'm reading about this kid on the front page of Yahoo, who's only five and he's weightlifting and doing other physical exercises. I was wondering what the consequences could be on his body now and possibly later in life since he's still growing? He looks like he's in excellent physical condition.|||There have been studies on teenage weight lifting that suggest that certain types of weight lifting may damage the epiphysis (rounded end of a long bone), or growth plate (a flat structure or layer, as a thin layer of bone), of the bones. There's evidence that lifting heavy weight could speed up growth plate closure, which would stunt the growth of a teenager or a child.

On the other hand, as long as he doesnt do any power lifting, competitive lifting of max lifting , he should be fine, or like the other guy said, anything that compresses the spine.

Working out ( lightly) for children is actually good since they develop their endurance and strength at a core period, when the nutrients intake is mostly benefited from and when everything in their body is still forming. A 12 year old boy should be able to do about 15 push ups yet 12 yr old boys can usually do 8-10. It's not a huge difference but when you hit 50, that's when you feel it. Also, as long as the kid's heartbeat is monitored and kept constant and within the proper range, there shouldn't be any dange for his heart.

If you're talking about Liam, he's born with that physical condition called myostatin-related muscle hypertrophy which in layman's terms means overgrowth of skeletal muscle and practially no fat. Not exercising in his case would result the weakning of his muscles and since his body is mostly composed of muscle because of his health condition, his body would practically give up in the long run.

Hope this helped...i could go on but it's too long. There's a lot of articles on the net about Liam though, i'm sure you could look them up or i saw a show about him on TLC once.|||he should be fine as long as he stretches after ( so his muscle dont restrict his bones from grwoning) and doesnt do ANY thing that compresses the spine such as squatts with weights behind head.
